The Verny supermarket chain has been operating in the Russian market since 2012 and today has more than 660 stores selling groceries and essential goods. Cooperation between GoodsForecast and the Verny chain began back in 2018 with the implementation of a pilot project on predicting the effects of promotion campaigns.
Within that pilot project, two types of promotions were tested for 406 items during the week from July 24 to July 30 in all stores of the chain (575 stores at the time the project started). The analytics were conducted based on the Verny chain's historical data set (history of promotion campaigns, sales, balances, prices, etc.); forecasting parameters were selected based on promotion campaigns held in the Verny chain in May and June 2018.
GoodsForecast specialists calculated and analyzed the following indicators:
The GoodsForecast.Promo system was chosen by the retailer's representatives based on the results of the pilot project after it demonstrated the best quality vs the solution offered by another vendor as well as vs Verny's own forecasts.
The accuracy of GoodsForecast forecasts at the “SKU/chain” level was 20% higher than the accuracy of the competitor's solution and 1.5 times higher than the accuracy of Verny's own forecasts.
During the project, in addition to the forecasting kernel, a visual interface for 3 positions – category manager, promotion manager and analyst – was implemented, which covered virtually the entire day-to-day promotion planning process and allowed to automate and optimize it.
Since August 2019, the system has been in commercial operation and its functionality continues to be developed with 4 different units and more than 30 employees currently operating the system
