Description of the project progress

A pilot project was implemented in 2014 which delivered a 23.4% reduction in production costs. After that, it was decided to put the GoodsForecast.Scheduling solution (Output Planning and Optimization) into commercial operation.

GOALS

1. Reduce costs (production and storage of goods, penalties due to failures to fulfill orders on time) by optimizing production planning;
2. Increase the level of customer service through more accurate scheduling of shipment dates and reducing product shortages scenarios;
3. Reduce labor costs associated with the planning process due to the significant automation of the processes involved in generating day-to-day output plans and scheduling shipments based on customers’ requisitions;
4. Increase the sustainability of planning processes by automatically generating high-quality output plans and scheduling shipments based on customers’ orders without the need for the plant’s planner to accumulate significant experience and skills.

OBJECTIVES

The project objective was to develop and implement a System with the following key features:

1. Automatic generation of day-to-day output plans based on the algorithm developed under the Service Provider’s pilot project;
2. Easy editing of the output plan to enable the plant’s planner to quickly make their own adjustments to the plan as recommended by the System;
3. Automatic generation of recommendations on optimal shipping dates for each incoming customer order-based request from the manager in real time;
4. Full integration with IT systems enabling to automate the exchange of all necessary data.
   In general, the implemented System should have become the planner’s main workplace by automating a significant portion of their current work.
